Comparisons of ranking techniques of search engines

This thesis deals with the ranking of search engines and page optimization for webmasters. The optimization is done by example of the website of the research group of databases and information systems (DBIS). Ranking is one central part of every search engine in the internet and serves the judgement of relevance. This implies for every webmaster from a website that the place of the own page in the order of theresult of a search query is strongly depending on the ranking process. To get a better understanding for this whole process, ranking itself and also four different ranking techniques are analyzed. Subsequent the topic of page optimization is presented and a optimization proposal for the site of DBIS is specifified.
