In the context of finding routes between geographical points and during the calculation of isochrones various Queries are sent to spatial databases. The goal of this master thesis is to evaluate these queries regarding their runtime and their overall performance.

Hereby, different database systems should be analyzed and their results should be compared with each other. It is also part of this thesis to implement a small spatial database without the usage of optimization techniques to establish a baseline for further comparisons (as an alternative to writing a new database it is also possible to find a database that does not use optimization techniques at all or where they can all be deactivated).
By establishing such a performance baseline small changes in the algorithms should be detectable in the measurements, even if there are only subtle differences in runtime.
