The goal of this thesis is to implement a laboratoy information management system (LIMS) for the Division of Genetic Epidemiology of the Medical University of Innsbruck. The system captures, monitors and connects each individual production step of an analysis. Since all the gathered data is kept centralized and each individual step can be traced back, quality assurance can be improved and eased. Since the field of genomics research is rapidly developing new methods, the LIMS is equipped with a modular design to easily implement new techniques and needs.
